What is sex therapy and how can I find the right therapist for me?
Sex therapy is the treatment of sexual dysfunction, such as non-consummation, premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, low libido, unwanted sexual fetishes, sexual addiction, painful sex, or a lack of sexual confidence, assisting people who are recovering from sexual assault, problems commonly caused by stress, tiredness, and other environmental and relationship factors. Sex therapists assist those experiencing problems in overcoming them, in doing so possibly regaining an active sex life.
First ask your family and friends who know somebody like a physician, psychologist or psychiatrist if they can refer a good and reliable sex therapist. The Internet is a good way to search for a sex therapist. You can even have online sex therapy in some cases. Make sure the sex therapist has appropriate credentials by getting a referral from an established sex-therapy organization, such as the Association of Sex Educators or Sexologists.
Once you find a sex therapist, make only one appointment. Once you are comfortable with him/her you can make your next appointment
